Dizzy’s Bus Stop Preschool Philosophy
At Dizzy’s Bus Stop Preschool our basic overarching goal is to foster an environment where kids can master self-reliance, and an “I can do it” attitude. Our focus is on fundamental preschool skills such as fine and gross motor development, social and emotional growth to enable the child to gain a positive sense of self worth, as well as respect for others and their environment.
We believe that children learn by doing, which in return builds their self esteem, confidence and understanding of how things work. We strive to create an environment where children learn concepts through their most important job – that of play!
Our preschool will guide each child in the growth of their total personality. Areas related to physical, mental, emotional and social development are all given equal attention when preparing a curriculum to fit the needs of each child. A child's self expression, creativity and analytical thinking are worked out in play. Through observations, our teacher may help a child succeed in areas where they may not excel. Our teachers strive to aid each child in developing a positive image of themself.
Curriculum
Dizzy’s Bus Stop preschool curriculum is a discovery-based learning experience that gives each individual child the opportunity to move through specially designed learning centers of his or her own level of interest and ability. The curriculum focuses on learning basic concepts and skills through hands-on experiences and activities. Some centers are designed to develop large and small motor skills while others are more academically oriented. Through our program, each child is given the tools needed to encourage the growth of the whole child.
There are three (3) preschool programs available for the 2010-2011 school year. There is a 2’s preschool program that will be held in our main facility downstairs. This program will run Monday through Friday from 9:30am -12:00pm or 9:30am – 1:30pm. The 3’s-5’s preschool program will be held in the upstairs suite. There will be a morning program that runs Monday through Friday from 9:30am – 1:30pm, and the third preschool program will be in the afternoons on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm – 3:30pm. The afternoon program will be held as long as a minimum of 6 children are enrolled.
Every month, Dizzy’s Bus Stop will distribute a general curriculum guide to parents. This curriculum will show the themes within each month. This calendar will also include Dizzy’s Bus Stop Preschool special events, Parent Meetings, Kid’s Night Out dates, Field Trips, etc. In addition, you will see posted a detailed weekly curriculum.

Tuition
The preschool tuition is based upon which preschool program your child is enrolled in and the number of days/week your child will be attending. Please be aware that to be a part of the preschool program your child must be enrolled for a minimum of 2 days/week. If you would only like 1 day per week, your child will be part of the Drop & Go program only.
For the 2’s program you can choose between a 2-1/2 hour and a 4 hour day, and then you can choose how many days per week you would like (minimum of 2 days). If you start with a 2-1/2 hour day, you are welcome to change your child’s schedule to the 4 hour program at any time throughout the year.
For the 3-5’s program we have a morning and afternoon program. The morning program is 4 hours and the afternoon program is 2-1/2 hours with the option to drop off earlier for lunch. Preschool Drop & Go rates would apply to early drop off.

If you are enrolled in our preschool program, you will enjoy the benefits of “membership” by receiving a discount off of the regular Drop & Go rates. So if you ever need a few extra hours or an extra day, you will receive the discounted Drop & Go rate for preschool students of $8.00/hr versus $10.00/hr.
Please be aware that if you need to leave your child beyond their regular scheduled preschool hours, you can pay for extended care beginning at 8:30am and extending until 5pm each day. Drop & Go hours cannot be more than 4 hours/day. When your child is enrolled in our preschool program you will be charged the preschool student Drop & Go rate of $8/hour for all extended care beyond their regular preschool hours. This will be billed at the end of the week and payable on Fridays, or the last day attending that week.
Tuition is due and payable on the first of the month and must be paid by the fifth of each month. In September, tuition is due by the first class of the school year.
Daily Schedule
2’s PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
The 2’s program begins at 9:30am each weekday morning. You have the option of a 2-1/2 hour program or a 4 hour program depending upon which schedule you choose for your child. If your child stays for the 4 hour program they will need to bring a lunch and they will get to enjoy a class on the Tumblebus.
When you bring your child each day, you will sign them in at the front desk, and put their belongings into their cubby.
The 2’s program is held in the downstairs suite along with the Drop & Go program. Please be aware that there will be some kids each day that are not a part of the regular preschool program; however, many of them are kids that come regularly and easily join in with the group. Children enrolled in the preschool program always receive priority on available space.
Our General 2’s Daily Schedule:

Circle Time: We will gather the children in the front area to meet all the friends that are there that day. This first circle time is short so they can get on with their day of learning.
Open Exploration/Work Stations: Play is your child’s job. Therefore, we call this Open Exploration/ Work Time. During work time children will be exposed to a variety of play experiences that enhance their learning which encompasses fine and gross motor, social and sensory development. During this time children will be encouraged to try new things; however, their play is dictated by their individual interests and developmental levels.
Outside, Circle or Upstairs Preschool Room: Whenever the weather permits we will be outside on the playground at this time. If the weather is not cooperating, they will go upstairs to the preschool room for play time. Some days we will do another circle time where we will talk about the weather, learn songs, play organized games and/or read stories.
Tumbling Room: The tumbling room is an all time favorite for our preschool students, so each day they will get a dedicated time to play in the tumbling room. We will have different obstacles set up so they can explore and work on gross motor development.
Closing/Book Time: Before the first group of 2’s go home, we with gather to read a book and sing goodbye to our friends.
Tumblebus Class Time: The students will enjoy a Tumblebus class taught by our Tumblebus teachers. Here they will learn basic tumbling skills and work on their gross motor development. Tumblebus class time is a favorite activity amongst the children.
3’s-5’s PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
This program varies slightly depending upon the day of the week. Please look at the daily schedules to determine which days you prefer:
3’s – 5’s Preschool Daily Schedule

Circle Time: Is an integral part of learning, so it is important to drop your child off on time. We will use this time to say hello, go over our daily activities, learn important skills, calendar, and sing songs, just to name a few. During this time each child will have an opportunity to bring sharing on his or her given day.
Open Exploration/Work Stations: Play is your child’s job. Therefore, we call this Open Exploration/ Work Time. During worktime children will be exposed to a variety of play experiences that enhance their learning which encompasses fine and gross motor, social and sensory development. During this time children will be encouraged to try new things; however, their play is dictated by their individual interests and developmental levels. Between 10:20am and 10:40am we will have a station for snack so the kids can sit down and enjoy snack when they are ready for it.
Small Groups/Journals: during this time the class will be divided into 2 smaller groups. The small groups are to introduce concepts and new skills. This is also an important time for learning to follow multi-step directions, listening to and following instructions. Small groups take form as a math, cooking, science or art lesson. Communication of thought is an essential skill. Through journal writing children will express themselves through thought. Sometimes we will “spark” the process with a specific theme and other times it will strictly be “How does your story start?...”
Tumbling Room/Outside Time: The tumbling room is an all time favorite for our preschool students, so each day they will get a dedicated time to play in the tumbling room. We will have different obstacles set up so they can explore and work on gross motor development. When weather permits, we will also enjoy some outside play time and exploration on our wooded trail.
Science: Our Friday’s science based activity focuses on children’s natural desire to explore in order to understand the world in which they live in.
Independent/Quiet Activity: We will have quiet/independent activities available for the children to self initiate after they are finished eating lunch. This independent opportunity helps children to be able to initiate activities on their own and to build up their independent skills. Individual file folder games and puzzles that work on concept skills such as matching, patterning and sequencing to name a few, will be available for them to choose based upon their interest levels. In addition, books will always be available for them.
If your child will be late or absent, please call us. We will do our best to accommodate class make-up days as long as space is available. So be sure to schedule that with our front desk as soon possible after their absence.
